MY COMPUTER HISTORYDate added: 20. 10. 2000
Once upon a time, there was small boy totally crazy to computers. He was 8 when his father had brought him home his first computer. This boy was me and that situation absolutely changed my life.
Summer 1984 - 22th november 1988: LASER 210This computer isn't very known type - it was 8 bit computer from the era of ZX 81 computers. It had 16 kb RAM and I have only two games on it. In our country was communist religion and shores were closed. We bought this computer in Austria, because father hasn't enough money to buy ZX Spectrum (it cost 300$ :) ). On this computer I learned doing some programs, but I wasn't very addicted to computers that time. Without doubt - I was addicted especially to computer games and on my Laser I had only two of them... :) 22th november 1988 - 23th december 1990: SINCLAIR ZX SPECTRUMIn this time began real mania. This computer gave me dreamless nights, undisclosed hapinness and real sense of life. And that was because of one thing - games. Imagine the 4 years, which I had to live on 1 game with Laser (which I completed unlimited times, of course :) ). And now whole bunch of games, one better than another, on one computer! Really amazing. :) 23th december 1990 - end of 1992: COMMODORE AMIGA 500I remember that day like it was today. One friend told me I could buy better computer than Spectrum. I saved few money, rest borrowed from great grandma and took a trip to Austria (again, but that time were the shores already opened). But - that was one day before Christmass and all the shops were totally out of stock. I gave up and thought that my dear computer won't be under my christmass tree, when - in the last small town and small shop just before shores THEY HAD HER. More expensive than else but THEY HAD HER !!!! And so began my another dreamless nights. With Amiga it was really nice, it was my first girlfriend. Toda she lies here near me too - only thing telling me that it is not my only one, is the red towel on her. I hope she won't be jealous :). End of 1992 - 1994: COMMODORE AMIGA 1200Another two years (do you see the 2-year period between every type of computer? :) ), but Amiga 1200 was little bit disappointment for me. The main problem was the compatibility, and very few enhancements comparing the 500 model. But I didn't care. My game mania continued :). 1994 - now: PCYes, what I have to say - as every Amiga freak I converted to PC with tears in my eyes. But as the time flew, it became to be the need. I didn't like PC games very much and although there vere many very good and nice titles, they didn't reach the playability and addiction of the Sinclair and Amiga games. And especially today, I think that today's games really suck :) And I think it's not only because I'm old :) Today I play mostly games on emulators... :) 1996 - now: Sony PlayStationAs every proper game maniac, I couldn't wait until there came Sony Playstation. I saw in PlayStation "second Amiga" where games don't crash, where games aren't slow or fast but accurate etc. Although PSX is great console, it didn't second Amiga. Because it was 'just' the console. When I don't wanted to play, I've got again only to run PC with hated WinShit :). 90s - emulators (ZX, C64, Amiga, SNES, Arcade)Yes, emulators opened my second life. Due to emulators I found for example SNES - really great console which wasn't available in our countries. These games have really better playabilty than today ones and there are mostly absolutely unknown titles. :) |
