- "Hypnotic Music of Settlers 2" (by apachenf, 13 Jan 2004) [10/10]
There is something about the Sng_0001 which goes on and on in my head - I actually find myself whistling the music. Thi is just the best game music I have ever heard and I have scoured the net just for th music alone - at last.
The relentless march of the music gels with the relentless march of the little characters as they plod across the screen. Genius, sheer genius.

I sent this music to someone, and they are now available through BitTorrent. Tracker is on TPB:

- "Actual Songs..." (by Redheat, 1 Oct 2006) [10/10]
Iv found over the years that some of the midi music in older games are based on songs. I have found one Song that is based on Song 14 (In settlers 2)
Richard Marks - Hazard
After listening to this song for the first time about a year ago i instatly related it to settlers 2 and it makes this song spectacular as it reminds me of the countless hours of playing settlers 2 (The best present i was EVER brougt)
I thought i found another song that has a melody from the settlers 2, though im not sure.
Kate Bush - The man with the child in his eyes
These two songs remind me of settlers 2 so much and i hope people will see the connection. Your feedback would be great (Might just be me) <-- :S
- "Richard Marx" (by Redheat, 10 Oct 2006) [10/10]
THe last name is marx by the way, my typo! :)
Hope you like the song if you do not see the connection :)
- "Great soundtrack, but werent there more?" (by physonic, 8 Sep 2007) [8/10]
I do love the music written by Haiko Ruttmann for Settlers 2. Its something that makes you think back to all the endless nights in front of the screen :)
Though, i do remember some other music that was on the actual settlers 2 gold cd-rom. Im not sure how to describe it, other than "monk-music" :) easy listening, and some chanting on, etc.
Can anyone confirm this, or if im wrong - maybe give me a hint where to get that specific music (maybe upload it if u have it)

Yes, there were eight audio tracks on the CD. Some of them were just higher-quality versions of some of the 15 in-game midis, but others were unique.
I managed to rip the audio tracks from my Gold Edition CD-ROM with iTunes, so if you still have the CD you can get the music that way.
I wouldn't mind uploading them, but it's in mp3 and about 62 MB in total. :)

Comments from J7N:
The reason why I update the Settlers 2 music is that I saw it converted by Winamp's plugin from XMID. I've used this function many times and for some reason it doesn't write proper note-offs (along with other inaudible deffects). Notes remain on and turn music unlistenable. This effect wasn't strong on S2 but still present.
- Where the songs seemed designed for looping
a small repeat with fadeout was added.
- Ctrl 123 added at the end to allow
reverberated sound decay completely.
- Converted files to MIDI format 1 and
cleaned up of repeated controllers.

Generate info.txt - with this cool feature you can generate the info.txt file with all tune information and save it somewhere, which means you'll have something like "tune ID card"! :) This has cool advantages - it's small, fastly readable/editable, you can add it to the tune archive if you want and you will have everytime fast information about the game and music archive. Also programs which support reading from txt files (such as KBMedia Player) can read the info.txt file directly while playing tunes of all formats!
