User reviews

  • "It's really Unreal" (by Warcow, 10 May 2004) [10/10]
Unreal as a game is a real masterpiece and so is the music. Many tunes are ambient, which suits the game and creates a wonderful atmosphere, but there's also a lot of easy listening ones as well. Overall I think it's a really good soundtrack and it deserves a high overall rating, just listen to classics like Wargate and Dusk Horizon and you see what I mean.

  • "Unreal Game rip" (by jb, 24 Jun 2004) [9/10]
Excellent! If you dont know, there is a secret to this MOD.
Deli Player lets you play all of the songs! First there is a regular song setting then a sub-song setting. Unreal Crypt sub is my fave.

  • "Unreeeeeal" (by Dr. Spa, 21 Jul 2004) [10/10]
I sorry I couldn’t download this whole thing --been having tremendously bad internet speed (under 1.2k/sec). I had to download only a few... After looking at few reviews I downloaded the most recommended ones, Unreal Main Title and Mechanism eight. I’m telling you after listening to all music in my life - Unreal Main Title is a New type of gamemusic... From position 03 and on is a new world - a new world of music... Mechanism eight is nothing special probably a 7/10 on its own... Download Unreal and Unveil Great Rock Music

  • "UnReality" (by Darth Nefelim, 6 Sep 2004) [9/10]
A Great success of two talented trackers. And one of the really Great game soundtracks ever composed. These guys're seriously in love with their work. Must have!

  • "Simply put..." (by Mortar, 10 Nov 2004) [10/10]
    This here music is legend.

  • "Legendary" (by Pyramid Head, 20 Feb 2005) [10/10]
A must-have for soundtrack collectors. All tunes are packed with ideas, mysterious sounds... Sometimes the tone is damn climatical (Flightcastle, Vortex Rikers, Erosion...), sometimes packed with action and battle sounds (Nightvision, Isotoxin, Warlord Theme).
You can feel UNREALITY from first, to last track.
So, if you soundtrack collector, and you still don't have this one in your collection, don't hesitate - DOWNLOAD IT!!!

  • "UnReAl" (by lambert, 13 Mar 2005) [9/10]

  • "best of the best" (by fintroll, 2 Dec 2005) [10/10]
    absolute excellent music !

  • "Unreal TECH DEMO music!!" (by dracore, 8 Dec 2005) [10/10]
I can't believe it!! I finally found the tunes for the tech demo after over 5 YEARS of searching!!! I had the leaked copy of the tech demo back when I was still using a 486 PC and the music was AMAZING! (and the game engine was lightyears ahead of it's time!) About 5 years ago I lost the music modules and only had a CD-DA copy to remember by. Have been searching since... even now. I knew it had to be Alexander Brandon's music.. the style matched all his other Unreal tunes. Just on a whim, I find this site and lo-and-behold, the tech demo songs are in this archive!

    MUST DOWNLOAD! 10 thumbs up!

  • "coool" (by eeee, 26 Dec 2005) [10/10]

I was looking for that kind of music great amount of time! thanx :) For several years i`m game mastering Cyberpunk 2020 RPG system, this music is very good for that

  • "Unreall...music... at last i find that..." (by Meledictum, 4 Mar 2006) [10/10]
Yeeeees... Unreeeeal music... I\\\'v got it... At lasttt... My suffering ends... :D Seriously:
kickass music!!! absolutly must-have-one!!! Download immidietly! :)

  • "Hypnotic" (by jezcrow, 9 Apr 2006) [10/10]
Part of the magic of unreal was the music. The soundscapes were an amazing complement to the game, and set off the whole feel to it brilliantly.

  • "really nice" (by Myke, 16 May 2009) [9/10]
really nice music no doubts but i found a way to read the .umx files (wich is the original unreal music from its CD) by making a program that works with winamp wich allows reading .umx as if they were .mp3 files

anyway this music rocks because the several music found on ONE level (like vandora temple) are seperated wich is really nice

EDIT: you can also listen the music from ingame by going straight to the map where your favorite music is located (works for gold version too) then type in the game console musicorder #(# stand for a number [0 to 3])
This cheat code(not really a cheat) has for effect to go to a specific part of the music or in certain case ( like Vendora Temple[map-named RUINS]) switch to another music style which is included in the music file used by the level,

  • "Overrated, But Still Fun" (by Anorak99, 24 May 2006) [6/10]
Unreal music has never really caught my eye due to how random it is. Still, if it has captured the hearts of you guys, then I guess it can't be all bad.

  • "Are You still reading this?" (by Lobatomic, 4 Jun 2006) [9/10]
    go download this little jewel.

  • "Masterpiece!" (by Splendy, 15 Jul 2006) [10/10]
This is one big masterpiece, love The Sunspire, great job Michiel! :D

  • "So Happy!!!" (by CShark, 16 Aug 2006) [10/10]
My Favorite game of all time. Had ripped my own versoin long time ago. This is different and so enjoyable. Great memories conjured up while listening to this. They had it right. First game where music was important. Now I can listen when I am at work doing boring things. It will make it tolerable. Thanks.

  • "a classic" (by deepblue, 20 Aug 2006) [9/10]
the game itself was a classic when it first came out. It is still remembered for its breakthru graphics. I remember buying my first 3d accelerator card just for this game (and it was worth it). but the music was also spectecular as well. this is as good as midis get. a masterpiece from alex brandon.

  • "ultra nice" (by mwnn, 13 Sep 2006) [10/10]
These tracks are still in my head after 8 years since I played the game.

  • "Unreal MOD Soundtrack" (by node357, 12 Dec 2006) [9/10]
Totally perfect MOD execution that does total justice to the original Unreal game. You can't miss this!

  • "As good as it's ever gonna get for games" (by Sheol, 1 Jan 2007) [10/10]
If you listen to music and don't have this you are missing out. Period.

  • "Simply Unreal" (by gurpkf, 25 Jan 2007) [10/10]
Unreal has music by Alex Brandon, Michiel vd Bos...

Simply unreal. The best music to have playing while playing :) It's in my winamp playlist now, keeping company with UT, Deus Ex...

  • "Have been looking for this!" (by Morbid, 9 Mar 2007) [10/10]
When i played unreal as a kid i was so amazed by the music that i tried to record it on to a casette by keeping a stereo by the computer to get the sound. Well, now i dont need to and thats great! The music is fantastic! Have a kind of Amiga feeling about it but sounds better. Obscene and beautiful...

  • "Very atmospheric" (by Shinobi, 3 Jul 2007) [9/10]
These tunes are both versatile but also they have a common line. You get action-pounded beats but also atmospheric tunes. Excellent. But, as you can expect, since there is such a variety, not all sounds fully meet my taste. So "only" 9/10.

  • "As good as it gets!" (by Aum, 21 Oct 2007) [10/10]
Its very rare that the music beautifully complements a game. Unreal and Unreal Tournament are a shining example of this.

  • "Best soundtrack ever." (by Leo, 23 Nov 2007) [10/10]
I have been looking for the soundtrack for Unreal I ever since I first heard it! I can't wait to listen to it. I bought the gold edition of the game but sadly it didn't include a CD with the soundtrack (although that is probably asking for too much).

  • "Great quality" (by Wolfie, 15 Jun 2008) [10/10]
I originally downloaded this soundtrack from another site, but have been very disappointed with the low quality. This one is a welcome world of difference.

  • "Very Good Thank You ! =D" (by refzem, 1 Sep 2008) [9/10]
I've been trying to get this music for a while, its pretty good, brings back some old gaming moments :D
Anyway I lost my Unreal Cd and all that long time ago, so couldn't get the music from there...
Just a fast download, unpacked and everything worked great. Plays good in VLC (<3)
Even though its not as epic as the unreal Tournament music ,its still very nice to listen to.
    Thanks

    //RefzeM'

  • "One word: AWESOME!" (by JaadWoro, 9 Sep 2010) [10/10]
Really masterpieces, Unreal music can't get any better! heck, it sounds even better than UT2K4/UT3... Awesome!

Even if you never played unreal, go download it anyway! It is worth it! :)

  • "no way the game could have had a title other than UNREAL" (by whydidisignup, 14 Sep 2010) [9/10]
the gameplay is unreal, unreal maps, unreal soundtrack, unreal weapon, unreal enemies, unreal experience

  • "Masterpiece" (by Xeogred, 15 Mar 2011) [10/10]
Unreal isn't a game, it's an experience. Majorly thanks to the music, some of the most atmospheric and powerful stuff I've ever heard. Once you first make your way outside of the ship at the start of the game and "Dusk Horizon" kicks in, you know you're in for a ride. This and Deus Ex are utterly timeless and it's a shame music like this didn't last too long, it doesn't get much better than this.

  • "Awesome" (by ZEUS_GB, 15 Jul 2012) [10/10]
The music in Unreal is awesome and some of the best mods ive heard in a comerical game for a while now.

  • "You all done a great music.......ever...........Unreal" (by Thusitha Thanthirige, 10 Jun 2013) [10/10]
I am Thusitha Thanthirige, you had done a great melodious music

Most tracks are looped, so their playtime is limitless (only one-loop playtime showed). Where I knew, I added also author names (if you know the missing authors, let me know). Each of the tracks are usually divided into three subsongs - Ambient, Action and Tension (or Aftermath). Track playtime was calculated using XMPlay v3.0 tool, which is also able to play all the tunes with subsongs in the row. Thanx to Ian Luck.

The last three bonus-tunes were used only in Unreal Tech Demo, released in 1995, three years
before the actual release of game.

The folder "Beta" contains tunes from Unreal Beta 97-98, some were never used, some were used in diffrent songs, or were remixed. Thanks to Mormaeglin and Pyramid Head for providing them.
